Privacy policy
Draft. Last updated 13 October 2026.
This explains what we do with information about you, in plain English. If anything here isn't clear, email {{PRIVACY EMAIL}}.
Who we are
Word of Mouth Websites is a trading name of Pursuit Digital Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 14006507). Registered office: Unit 4 Lancaster Place, South Marston Industrial Estate, Swindon SN3 4UQ. VAT number GB420275824. We decide how your information is used, which makes us the "controller" under UK data protection law. We're registered with the Information Commissioner's Office, registration number {{ICO NUMBER}}.
Businesses we contact
We look for local businesses that have a Google Business Profile, good reviews and no website. To do that we use a business listings service (DataForSEO) that collects what businesses publish on Google. For each business we keep:
- the business name, category, town, phone number and opening hours;
- its rating, how many reviews it has, and up to five recent reviews;
- photos from the profile, where the terms allow it.
If you trade under your own name, some of that is personal data about you. We use it because we have a legitimate interest in offering a service to businesses that would benefit from it, and we only use information the business has already made public.
Before anyone rings, we check the number against the Telephone Preference Service and the Corporate Telephone Preference Service, and against our own do-not-call list. We recheck every 28 days. If you tell us not to contact you again, your number goes on our do-not-call list and stays there, so we never ring it again.
Calls and texts
When we ring you, we keep a note of the call: when it was, who made it, what was said in a line or two, and whether you'd like a call back. We don't record calls.
We text a link to your preview only after you've agreed to it on a call, or when you ask for one using the form on this website. {{ADVISER: CONFIRM SMS PROCESS}}
Your preview
A preview is a sample homepage we write from your public Google profile and reviews. We use an AI service (Anthropic's Claude) to draft the words, and a person checks them before you see anything. Each preview sits at a private link that search engines can't find. We record when the link is opened so we know whether to follow up.
The request form on this website
If you ask for a preview, we keep the business name, your name, your mobile number, your town and the Google profile link if you gave one. We use them to build your preview and text you the link. The form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks it's being filled in by a person.
If you become a customer
When you buy a website we also keep your billing name, email address, phone number and business address, what you tell us on the intake form, the photos and logo you send, and a record of what you've approved. Payments are taken by Stripe; we never see or store your card details.
Who else handles your information
We use other companies to run the service. They only act on our instructions:
- Krystal Hosting, who host this website, our systems and customers' websites;
- Stripe, for payments;
- {{SMS PROVIDER}}, to send texts, and {{PHONE PROVIDER}}, for our phone line;
- {{EMAIL PROVIDER}}, to send emails;
- {{SCREENING PROVIDER}}, to check numbers against the TPS and CTPS;
- Cloudflare, for the form's security check;
- Google Analytics, only if you say yes to analytics cookies.
Some of these companies are based outside the UK. Where your information leaves the UK, we make sure it's protected to the standard UK law requires. {{ADVISER: TRANSFER SAFEGUARDS}}
How long we keep it
- Businesses we contacted who didn't buy: deleted 12 months after we last spoke to them.
- Our do-not-call list: kept for as long as we trade, so we never ring that number again.
- Customers: kept for 6 years after the end of the year we last did business, because tax law requires it.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop using it. You can object to us contacting you at any time, and we'll stop. Email {{PRIVACY EMAIL}} and we'll reply within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
